Parents and guardians have been told that unlike other institutions, Ferscoat schools are constantly adding value to the life of learners.
Director of Studies, Pastor Felix Opata who stated this while addressing the Parents Teachers Forum of the school at the weekend said that beyond the core responsibilities of the teachers and administrators of the schools, the learners are given a comprehensive understanding of how to succeed in their further studies and even in life.
He informed the parent of the progress reports on the external competition which involved the students with their contemporaries from other schools and in which Ferscoat learners came first in all categories.
The Science and mathematics competition organised by Faith Academy in April, 2022, with other participating schools; Imperial Light, Honey land, Doregos, and Kristabel was won by Ferscoat schools with their students coming first in all categories.
The DOS also informed the parents of the successful completion of its school complex which will, from September, accommodate both the junior and the secondary schools with all modern facilities in place to create a conducive learning and creative environment for the learners.
According to him. ‘there are already arrangements for a more modern reception, 24 hours CCTV surveillance around the school premises, a 100-seats ICT centre, an expansive hall that can host more than 300 guests at a time and a 200kva transformer to boost power supply to the complex’
To sustain the school’s record of excellence in external examinations, Pastor Opata informed the Forum of a rebranded WAEC, NECO and BECE special Clinic for JSS 3 and SSS 1 to 3 to get the learners adequately prepared for the external examinations for which the school has established a tradition of excellence given the performance of its learners over the years.
He said that the building currently hosting the senior secondary school is to be converted to centre for A levels lectures, professional courses such ICAN etc and will also serve as CBT centre for JAMB.
While seeking further cooperation from the parents and guardians, Pastor Opata highlighted plans ahead of the school to enhance their offering in order to improve on existing records of their learners in external competitions, examinations and the UTME.
The school Principal, Mr Fred Opata, in his speech informed the forum of the academic programmes lined up for the learners to ensure that the schools record in the external examinations are not only sustained but also surpassed.
He informed the parents of the schools’ impressive performance in the recently concluded UTME where its learners posted an outstanding score which he said will be complemented with the results of their National Examination Council (NECO) and their Senior Secondary School Certificate examinations conducted by WAEC.
While encouraging the parents to cooperate with the schools in maintaining and sustaining discipline among the learners, Mr. Opata urged the parents to assist the learners to study and keep school notes up to date at home in order sustain their academic performance also in the school.
The meeting which was well attended by the parents also secured their commitments to join hands with schools’ management to enhance the overall development and discipline of their wards.
The management also informed the forum of the weeklong 30th anniversary celebrations of the school scheduled for December while enjoining them to encourage their wards to take active participation in the school’s alumni association which is aimed at uniting and connecting all former students together and to monitor their progress in their various endeavors in life.
The school also informed the parents of the opportunity for the learners to register with Sports club in order to enhance their talents and potentials in extracurricular activities.
Ferscoat school’s rising profile has been due largely to its tough stance against exam malpractice and a strong foundation for its learners in academics in preparation for external examinations and competitions. The school which also provides a conducive boarding facilities for learners recently acquired ultra-modern building to provide additional comfort for the boarding students.
